Fundamentals of Lean Thinking (1 Day)

Description:
A general overview of Lean Thinking, including fundamentals, key tools, applications to the business, and examples.

Outline:

  • Lean Thinking principles
  • Common Lean tools (5S and visual management, pull systems, cellular production, setup reduction, Total Productive Maintenance)
  • Value Stream Mapping overview
  • Lean applications in product development, supply chain management, accounting, and other non-manufacturing business processes
  • Deployment roadmap and tips for success
  • Hands-on demonstration of Lean Principles

Target Audience and Outcomes:
The scope and depth are appropriate for participants from all company levels and functions, from senior executives to the shop floor. No prior experience with Lean Thinking is needed.

Notes:
This workshop also includes a published summary of Lean Thinking, videotapes, and a hands-on practical exercise that illustrates the benefits of Lean Thinking. Organizations have used this course to orient employees to Lean concepts, generate interest and support, kickoff Lean improvement programs, and even to develop customer/supplier teams.
