TRAINING & WORKSHOPS: LEAN THINKING
Kanban and Pull Systems (1 day)
Pull Systems are used to regulate suppliers so that
nothing is made or delivered until a pull signal is
received from downstream. Pull systems are critical
to inventory management in lean environments and are
key to Just-In-Time (JIT) production. An in-depth overview
of pull systems is provided in this full-day workshop.
Through lecture and hands-on examples, participants
learn about the different ways pull systems can be used
to manage work-in-process and sequence workflow.
- Lean Thinking principles
- The theory and objectives
- Essential elements
and prerequisites for effective pull systems
- Types of pull systems
(basic pull, supermarket, two-bin, three-bin,
FIFO lane, heijunka)
- Kanban loop sizing
Target Audience and Outcomes:
The workshop is appropriate for anyone involved in the
design, set-up, operation or maintenance of kanban pull
systems within their organization. At the conclusion
of this workshop, participants will be able to design
and implement pull systems for most business conditions.
Participants receive a three-ring binder with all presentation
slides. Some of our clients have conducted this workshop
jointly with their procurement specialists and key suppliers
to expose all parties to kanban techniques to design
and implement effective multi-company pull systems.
