TRAINING & WORKSHOPS: LEAN THINKING

Introduction to Lean Product Development (1 day)

Description:
Lean Thinking principles can be applied to any business process to achieve measurable improvements in customer satisfaction, output, lead time, and resource effectiveness. Of all business processes off the shop floor, product development has arguably achieved the most significant results and the most substantial body of work. In this workshop, we examine how Lean Thinking can be applied to the process of product development to achieve breakthrough results.

Outline:

  • Lean Thinking fundamentals
  • Common characteristics of product development processes
  • Mapping the product development process
  • Conceptual framework for applying Lean Thinking to product development
  • Lean Product Development tools and examples

Target Audience and Outcomes:
This workshop is targeted toward engineering teams and engineering process managers. It is also appropriate for people whose functions are closely associated with engineering and who would be included in any cross-functional team deploying Lean Product Development techniques.

Notes:
Participants receive a three-ring binder with all presentation slides. While this workshop can be used in a stand-alone mode, it is best conducted as kickoff training to a facilitated hands-on shop floor implementation
